It all started close to ten years ago when Adam read Pasture Poultry Profits by Joel Salatin, and the rest is history…
Adam grew up in a small town in upstate NY and always had a love for food and cooking. Upon high school graduation, he went to Culinary School to further his education and start the journey he had wanted for so long. Three days after college graduation, he boarded a plane, headed for San Diego, CA with no job, no car and a place to live for a few months. He worked his way up and eventually became a Sous Chef at a large casino where he realized this may not be what he wanted to do for the rest of his working life. An opportunity came around to take a job in commercial construction. He decided to make the leap and leave the culinary world and begin a new chapter in the construction industry.
Tina grew up in the high desert in Southern California. She went to college for business marketing and soon after graduating, started working in retail as a manager. She knew this was not the career path for her and decided to go to graduate school to become a teacher. Tina became an elementary teacher and taught second and third grade for eight years. She continues to have a passion for education and instilling a love for learning, and hopes to one day create her own homeschool curriculum.
Fast forward to 2016 when Adam and Tina met, and soon after the talks of a small farm began. Adam had always had a desire to have a small “hobby farm” with some animals and some acreage to call his own. Tina may have been a bit reluctant at first knowing nothing about that world, but the idea was always there. When 2020 came around (we all know what happened there) the talks of small farm and growing/raising your own food and not relying on the outside world and others to sustain most life became more common and a goal was born.
To get out of California, find a piece of America they could call their own, raise a family the way it used to be, grow and raise their own food and live a life worth living.
About Us
They started looking for land to purchase, some raw land and some with houses, and everywhere and anywhere across the country, quickly narrowing it down to somewhere in the Southeast, for many reasons. Little did they know a trip to North Carolina in 2021 would bring them just mere miles away from the land they actually purchased. A little over two years after looking in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, they found what they thought was a promising piece of land and within their budget.
Tina was five months pregnant at the time and decided it was better to not fly across the country on a whim, so Adam set off on a redeye flight to look at the prospective property in Tennessee. A few photos and phone calls later, both Adam and Tina knew, without telling each other, that this was the property. A few negotiations later and they were under contract for a 21 acre parcel of raw land.
Then the fun began, a new baby came at the very start of 2023 and a couple months later they listed their California house for sale, began selling most of their things, quit their jobs, loaded a moving trailer to ship their belongings and then headed off to start a new life in Tennessee building their home and homestead/farmstead from the ground up on their dream property.
And that is about where Adam and Tina’s YouTube journey began. They started documenting their journey, clearing land, getting animals, and building their home in video format and posting at least twice a week on YouTube.
